BIO 123L - General Biology I Lab

This course is a survey of the major groups of organisms, with emphasis on the plant and animal kingdoms. The course begins with an overview of evolution and the role of natural selection in adapting organisms to their environment. This is the context for exploring the evolutionary relationships and diversity of bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals. The structure and function of plants and animals is examined in greater detail, including: anatomy, nutrition, transport, water and gas exchange, growth, and reproduction. Corequisite(s): BIO 123 . Two hours of laboratory.
