JCS 100 - Introduction to Justice and Criminal Studies

3 cr.
This course will provide students with an introduction and overview of the U.S. system of criminal justice, including its historical development, current status, and future trends. Beginning with a consideration of the role of law in society, students will discuss and critique the nature and inter-relationships of social justice, civil justice, and criminal justice. The relationship of the social and behavioral sciences to criminal justice, the prevention of crime, and rehabilitative and restorative processes will be emphasized.
