To help prepare students for leadership roles in contemporary society, the School offers elective courses in Social Work as well as in Women’s Studies.
The course SOW 289 - Special Topics, is designed to offer an intensive study opportunity in an area of specialization not covered in great depth by existing courses. Topics offered in recent years include Case Studies of Immigrant Families, Human Services and the Family Court System, Understanding Sexual Violence Issues, and the Child Welfare System and Mandated Reporting Practices.
Students may select courses in some of the Graduate School’s programs with the approval of the Social Work chairperson, the course instructor, and the dean of each School. Students interested in this option should consult their faculty advisor.
